What does “guilty,” “not guilty,” and “no contest” mean?

Guilty - To admit to having committed an offense as charged.
Not Guilty - To state that you did not commit the offense you have been charged with. You will be given a new court date on a disposition docket to discuss your case with the prosecuting attorney.
No Contest - In the case of a traffic ticket, the legal effect of a “no contest” plea is the same as that of a guilty plea, however, a “no contest” plea may not be used against you as an admission of guilt in any civil suit that may arise.

1. Can I pay fines by phone, credit card, or debit card?: Court payments may be made by phone with a debit or credit card by dialing 918.542.6685 and choosing the Court option, then the payment by phone option. A fee will be charged for processing of the card payment.

3. Do I get charged court costs if I appear in court?: There is no additional charge for appearing in court. Court costs are already figured into the fine amount of your ticket and are used to pay state fees and off-set the costs of processing the ticket, not for the appearance in court.

4. What if I can’t pay my fine by the court date?: Our judge will make payment arrangements to pay out a ticket. Your appearance on your court date is required to set up the payment plan. It will not be done over the phone or with office staff.

5. Can I make payments after office hours?: We have a locked drop box with envelopes in the Police Department’s vestibule, which is open 24/7.

6. How do I get a copy of my marriage license?: Marriage licenses are issued and maintained by the Ottawa County District Court. You may call them at 918-542-2801.

7. Who do I contact about getting my license reinstated?: In Oklahoma, you will need to contact Service Oklahoma at 405.425.2424 or their website at oklahoma.gov/dps/reinstate-driver-license
