How do I get a protective order?
Protective orders are issued by the Ottawa County Clerk's Office. Depending on the circumstances, they may advise you that a police report is needed to apply for a protective order. Regardless, they will guide you through the process of filing a temporary order of protection that will immediately go into effect when the alleged offender has been served with a copy. Your court order will include a court date at which time it will be determined if the order should remain in effect.
