Miami Police Department Officer Brian “B.J.” Tunnell who was killed in the line of duty will be remembered with a ceremony and rededication of his memorial stone on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.
The event will be held at the memorial site, located at Park Street and BJ Tunnell Blvd. in Miami, Oklahoma. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #121 and the Miami Police Department are hosting the event.
MPD Captain Todd Hicks and former MPD Officer Ken Brodrick will speak to the survivors, families, and friends of those attending. MPD Chaplains Albert Amos and Billy Bissell will officiate the service.
Last year, 128 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty across the United States. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week of this date as a time to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.

From the intersection of Main Street and BJ Tunnell Avenue, go west on BJ Tunnell to Park Street. The Memorial site is located on the south side of BJ Tunnell Blvd.
