Coleman To Show ‘Footprints’ Documentary On The Anniversary Of Mullendore Murder

The film, Footprints in the Dew: The Last Ten Tapes, is based on the extensive interviews Lewis conducted for his bestselling book Footprints in the Dew: Chub Anderson and the Unsolved Mullendore Murder.

The film will be screened at the historic Coleman Theatre at 7 p.m. Sept. 26. Tickets are $10 per person. According to Shannon Duhon, managing director of the Coleman Theatre, 50 percent of the ticket sales will be donated to the theatre.

“We showed this documentary in January and the response was incredible,” Duhon said. “We had more than 400 people brave the ice and snow that evening to attending the showing. We have received numerous calls from those who were unable to attend that showing asking if we would show it again.”

The film, according to Duhon, has improved since it was shown in January.

“The original version of the documentary had sound quality issues,” Duhon said. “There were portions of the film, especially the interviews with ‘Chubb’ Anderson, that were hard to follow. The sound issues have since been addressed, making it much easier to understand what is being said.

“Better sound quality and it being the anniversary of the murder are big reasons why we decided to bring the film back to the Coleman,” Duhon said. “We also are pretty confident that we will not have to deal with snow and ice in September.”

Lewis’ book is about the life of Damon “Chub” Anderson and his role in the unsolved murder of Mullendore.

On Sept. 26, 1970, Mullendore was killed in his home on the vast Cross Bell Ranch in Osage County. Although Anderson was in the house with him at the time, he was never charged with the murder. In the following years, both the murder and Anderson’s own life took on a mythic quality.

Footprints in the Dew tells the story of what really happened on the night of the murder as well as the events of Anderson’s life before and afterwards. Anderson collaborated on the project until his death in 2010.

Since its release in 2015, Footprints in the Dew has been consistently listed at No. 1 on The Oklahoman’s list of bestselling books in Oklahoma. Books will be available on the night of the screening and may also be ordered at www.originalbuffalodale.com.
